Wishing You All Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
China trip wasn't as successful as I would have liked and unfortunately I was suffering from tonsillitis so I couldn't travel to Dubai tournament, so next time you see me in action in Q-School beginning of January!
Wishing You All Happy Holidays!
CHINA
Eastern swing of the Ladies European Tour starts on beatiful tropical island called Sanya in southern China followed by Shanghai. After these two weeks we get month off before final two tournaments in India and Dubai.
Im little superstitious and lately I have been bumbing into number 13. I haven't really thought anything about it and as a mater of fact I used to work with one sport psychologist who insisted that it's his lucky number !
It all started in Chines embassy getting my visa to China. I got queue number 13 and I was called to desk 13, the gate my plane left was 13 and room nro starts with 13 combined with couple other things I have forgotten already ! Im just smiling everytime I bumb into it since I think its so funny... I have been probably the unluckies person on the golf course this year (funniest lies, wird bounces etc.) so this must be some kind of apologie from the universe or golfing gods if they excist!
Im looking forward these two weeks and hope to change that unlucky curve into a lucky one ...maybe I should start saying 13 is my lucky number!?
SWEDISH MACHPLAY
Heading back to my roots playing in Swedish Matchplay this week !!! Last time I visited Osteraker Golf Club, just outside Stockholm I won the whole tournament ( which back in a day was part of the Telia Tour) so let's hope that the same magic continues !!! Training has been really good so it's about the time something starts happening on the leaderboard as well !
LAND OF THE THOUSAND LAKES AND ENDLESS SUMMER NIGHTS ...FINLAND !!!
Im SO looking forward to this weeks tournament in Finland! We had some great time playing the ProAm late last night in Tali Golf Course. Our starting time sounded pretty unusual 4.40 PM and we fininshed something like 9.30 PM and the sun was still shining !
Golf is a funny game sometimes even if my practising has been really good it's been tough to score well. Staying in the present and keeping a positive focus is the key during tough times despite how hard it sometimes may feel.
I was very fortunate to go watch some tennis in Wimbledon as a guest of finnish tennis star Jarkko Nieminen beginning of the last week! Sunday I was supporting my other half racing in Ironman in Nice. Ironman race is tough 3,8km swim, 180km bike followed with a Marathon run which is 42km. I can tell you I didn't envy any of the athletes racing there in intense sun with temperatures rising up to 32*c in places. Suffering on the golf course is something we all experience sometimes but to see athletes suffer on the 22km long hill with 10 % uphill with tired legs on a bike is a different gravy ! The whole week made me realize you just need to keep going and keep the wheels turning to achive something truly amazing!
SLEEP ...EAT ...GOLF ! ...SPEEP ...EAT ...GOLF !
That's what I have been doing pretty much all winter long! Sounds kind of boring but I have really enjoyed tinkering with my new swing and working out on the gym. Best part of the whole process is when you start seeing youself changing, getting better and slowly but surely all the sweat and tears you put into starts turning and you start seeing results !
Seasons first tournaments in Marocco, Turkey and Portugal scoring has been tough since I have had some trouble with tee shots so unfortunately I been missing cuts.
Like so many times in golf I once again have realized that I just need to be patient and keep on going and things will turn out good again !
My goal this year is to play great golf and win more tournaments and to be able to do that I have been very lucky to have a team of people to help me out so I would like to take this opportunity to say BIG THANK YOU for my sponsors Pohjolan Voima and Bowskill Clinic for supporting me to reach my goals. My new coach Hugh Marr, my physio Andrew Jackson, my massage theraphist Heather Gibson and everyone who are helping me one way or the other !
I also would like to say that I have the GREATEST mom in the world ! Her support is endless in many ways and she also worked really hard to get this web site working !
Thank You all for your support and hope you will be back to read this blog in a near future!
Riikka
